General IKK Meeting

Thanks to Kirkland Deputy Mayor, Jay Arnold and to Jessa Lewis, State Committeewoman for King County Democrats for speaking at our meeting.  And thank you to everyone who attended – lots of good energy and good ideas!

Here are the notes from the meeting:  General Meeting 3/26/17.

Eastside March for Justice

Great to see so many people marching on Saturday.  Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Indivisible Kirkland Kenmore booth.  And special thanks to Sherry and Uzma for their help!

Town Hall – 48th LD

There were about 200 people there.  Some highlights included much discussion on progressive funding for education, a strong commitment to a woman’s right to choose in the state of Washington, discussion on providing affordable housing, and discussion on how the delegation is watching DC carefully to see how the state is going to need to step in to offset cuts from the federal level in funding and policies.  (The clean up and preservation of the Puget Sound was specifically mentioned in this discussion.)  And in addressing the level of tension between political parties, Representative Slatter said: “Let’s be hard on the policy, not the people.”

General Meeting

On February 12, 2017, Indivisible Kirkland Kenmore hosted its first general meeting at the Juanita Community Club.  We were thrilled and overwhelmed to have almost 100 people at that first meeting.  It proved to be an emotional experience as people shared what brought them to Indivisible Kirkland Kenmore.
